JOB SUMMARY: The BTSM is responsible for effectively soliciting and developing transient business travel. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an associate in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting: Frequently. Standard office furniture.
  • Standing/Walking: Occasionally.
  • Crouching: Occasionally. Place or retrieve items from floor or lower shelves.
  • Stooping: Frequently. To place or retrieve files.
  • Twisting: Frequently. Conversing with associates and guests, working on computer.
  • Handling: Frequently. Typing, computer keyboard, papers, files, phone.
  • Grasping: Frequently. Opening doors and drawers.
  • Pushing/pulling: Occasionally. 20 lbs - chairs, file drawers, filing systems.
  • Lifting/carrying: Occasionally. 10 lbs – binders
  • Communication: Talking throughout the day, calling customers and working with different departments.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Full-time in an office setting; or traveling to meet clients is common.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

  • Use comprehensive knowledge of market position, banquet and food and beverage revenues, pricing and rate structures, sales strategies, yield management, booking trends, and future hotel planning.
  • Follow sales policies and procedures as developed in the annual Marketing Plan.
  • Fluent in conducting outside sales calls to clients and enjoys networking and hunting for opportunities.
  • Conduct site tours for potential clients.
  • Attend trade shows.
  • Develop creative marketing techniques and event hosting opportunities.
  • Achieve and exceed individual and team annual goals as established by the annual Marketing Plan.
  • Periodically evaluate, assess, and revise the parameters of rooms merchandising program.
  • Achieve budgeted revenues and expenses and maximize profitability related to the sales department.
  • Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • One or more years of experience as a BT Sales Manager, Front Office Supervisor or Small Group Sales Manager with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledgeable on local markets and competitive markets outside the area.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus. High school education and relevant training and experience required.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions with a strong reservation booking background.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and presentation skills. Additional language ability, a plus.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies.
  • Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed.
